TRAINING LOCATING AND ISOLATING HIGH VOLTAGE FAULTS

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required for local authorisation as a Distribution High Voltage Operator. Through a mixture of classroom sessions and extensive practice, participants will obtain the knowledge, skills and confidence required to safely and effectively undertake a range of operating activities on HV distribution systems external to zone substation.

COURSE OUTLINE

Switching distribution feeders
Isolating and earthing high voltage overhead circuits
Issuing Electrical Access Permits
Locating and isolating high voltage faults
Operating a range of high voltage equipment including:
Distribution substations (pole mounted, ground and indoor)
Auto circuit reclosers and sectionalisers
Voltage regulators
Required safety instructions and procedures
HV system layout, including SWER systems
HV distribution line switchgear and transformer types and operating characteristics
Access procedures and practices
Distribution protection systems
Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Distribution Feeder Automation (DFA) systems
WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Chief engineers, engineers, electricalelectronic engineers (ETO) and maintenance personnel on board who are responsible for the daily maintenance of the High Voltage systems.
